STEP examples for this check

Geometry preview: Tab-and-slot joint without clearance

Sheet metal · CC0-1.0

Tab-and-slot joint without clearance

Model example

A 10 x 2 mm tab passes through a 10.1 x 2.1 mm slot of a 2 mm plate: only 0.05 mm clearance per side. Kerf and burr make such a joint jam.

Dimensions (approx.): 60 × 40 × 10 mm

Expected check result

PRU-107 should warn about the clearance below 0.1 mm per side and nothing else.

Finding expected

Geometry preview: Tab too narrow

Sheet metal · CC0-1.0

Tab too narrow

Model example

A 2 mm wide, 10 mm long tab projects from the edge of a 2 mm plate. A tab should be at least max(2 x t, 3.2 mm) = 4 mm wide.

Dimensions (approx.): 70 × 40 × 2 mm

Expected check result

PRU-107 should warn that the 2 mm tab is narrower than 4 mm and nothing else.

Finding expected

PRU-107

Compare: Tab wide enough
Geometry preview: Tab wide enough

Sheet metal · CC0-1.0

Tab wide enough

Model example

The same plate with a 5 mm wide, 12 mm long tab.

Dimensions (approx.): 72 × 40 × 2 mm

Expected check result

PRU-107 must stay silent: the 5 mm tab is wide enough.

No finding expected
