Non-circular cutout closer than max(1.0 x t, 1.0 mm) to a free outer cut edge (bend tangent lines excluded). Sources: sheetmetal.me, teprosa.de, Protolabs. Circular holes stay with PRU-030. WARNING below 0.5 x the limit, INFO up to it (published range 0.5-1.0 x t).

STEP examples for this check
Laser cutting · CC0-1.0
Slot too close to the sheet edge
Model example
A 40 × 10 mm slot sits only 2 mm from the top edge of a 5 mm plate. The remaining strip should be at least 1 × thickness = 5 mm or it bows, burns through or breaks when handled.
Dimensions (approx.): 120 × 80 × 5 mm
Expected check result
PRU-082 should flag the non-circular cutout that is too close to the edge.
A Ø6 hole in a 3 mm plate has only 1.2 mm of material between its edge and the plate edge, 0.4 × the plate thickness (below the published 0.5–1.0 × t range). The remaining strip can bow, burn through or break.
Dimensions (approx.): 120 × 80 × 3 mm
Expected check result
PRU-082 should flag the round hole under the laser_cutting process (under sheet_metal the same cause is reported once by PRU-030).
A Ø6 hole lies 2.03 mm from the edge of a 1.52 mm sheet. Punching needs at least 2 × thickness = 3.04 mm: the narrow strip at the edge bulges or tears when the hole is punched.
Dimensions (approx.): 120 × 80 × 1.52 mm
Expected check result
PRU-082 should flag the punched hole that is too close to the edge (and nothing else).
